Full Description:

These propeller shafts are employed on ships with more than approx. 25,000 tons displacement and a length up to 230 meters. A diesel-electric drive controls a POD drive with up to 11 kW power on each side. The drive can be rotated through 360°, which increases maneuverability.

The special feature of this order is in the very complex mechanical processing in several stages. The offset shafts were finished completely in-house. This includes the turning, milling and drilling, as well as deep hole drilling according to customer drawing. Then the radii were polished crossways in the presence of the classification society and measured with taper gauges.

As a result of our wide-ranging product and service spectrum, from the forging through heat treatment, extending to the complete mechanical processing, the order could be implemented from a single source to the fullest satisfaction of the customer.
